A couple of nights ago I went to my friend Al’s house to hear about a business opportunity that he had gotten into back in May. He first heard about this business from his father who had been in the business for the past few years. The business involves herbal supplements and seems to be getting bigger all the time. We were on a drive down the beach road the other day when we rode by a Bentley convertible filled with teen age girls. We just thought it incongruent that such a classy car would be driven by teens. I know if that were our car, we’d never let our teenager take it for a spin, much less with 3 of her closest and loudest friends distracting her while she was driving it. My husband and I are recently retired, and were looking to purchase an RV so we could travel.  This was something we had dreamed of doing for years, and had long saved our hard earned money for.  With this in mind, we went out and looked at sever models, including testing driving, and doing research for the most reliable ones. With the help of an Auto Loan, we drove home with a beautiful new model.  These days, we are hardly home, and are in a different place all the time.  We are having the time of our lives, and greatly look forward to the new adventures that await us.

I just paid off my car loan and it feels great.  I hope that this car will last me a couple of years more so that I will not have to have a car payment for a long time.  I would like to set aside the money that I have been paying on the car towards my retirement and drive the car as long as I can.  Just in case, I think I will also set aside a little bit of money each month towards a new car just in case this car does not last as long as I hope it will.  That way I will have money set aside both for retirement and for a car and I will be prepared regardless of what happens.

Private number plates are mostly used to give a special gift to someone in which they can use his or her name, date of birth or any special words. One of the things I most enjoy about plate-watching is finding people who have managed to cram entire slogans onto their plates. I have always been interested by how creative some people can be when the canvas in which they are allowed to express themselves is limited. In this case, only letters and numbers are allowed, and depending on the state, a maximum of 6 to 8 characters. There was a car parked in front of my house the other day sporting a vanity plate that read “IL SUE U” (pictured). And I thought, “wow, that guy must be a jerk.” Which got me wondering, who would want a custom license plate like that — that would almost force people to make (often negative) assumptions about you without even meeting you? Why would you want to telegraph, via the bumper of your car, that you’re litigious and greedy? Then again, depending on what’s on the plate, I suppose it’s kind of like wearing a silly tee-shirt; it all depends on what you want to telegraph about yourself. (In the case of our mental_floss shirts, you’re telegraphing how cool and smart you are.) So I got my Google on, and found out just how outrageous vanity license plates can be. More than anything, it made me wonder who’s approving these things — some are NSFW!
